The Apprentice: We chat to fired Kimberly Davies
|
Kimberly Davis, the self-styled “rough tough cream puff” from Brooklyn, was the fifth budding tycoon to feel Sir Alan Sugar’s wrath after being the first person in history to try using underpants to flog breakfast cereal. We caught up with her for a chat about it all.
First things first, Kimberly: what did you have for breakfast this morning?
Kimberly Davis: Er, I had no breakfast this morning. Somehow I can’t go back to eating breakfast after this. I skip breakfast altogether now.
Did you deserve to get fired last night?
Kimberly Davis: No, I didn’t. I definitely feel that one of the other two should’ve gone, but that’s what happens.
Was there anyone in particular you felt should’ve gone out of the other two?
Kimberly Davis: I think Phil and Lorraine deserved to go equally, they were both fighting with each other from extremes of the spectrum. Phil kept throwing tantrums and being aggressive, Lorraine was being over-sensitive and moping and all that sort of stuff. It was very, very difficult.
A lot of people have tipped Phil to go on to win. Do you agree?
Kimberly Davis: Oh gosh, no! I’ve seen through Phillip since the beginning. I know he has a nice smile, and he’s a good fun guy personally, but professionally I think he doesn’t have a plan. He’s not been very nice to some of the other candidates, including Lorraine. I tried to defend her and protect her, but in the end she turned on me in the boardroom, which was quite unfortunate and quite surprising, actually.
Who do you think will end up winning? Any tips for us?
Kimberly Davis: There’s definitely some really great businesspeople who deserve to win. James, Howard, Kate – and Paula if she was still in it. I thought it was unfortunate she went when she did because I could see her making it all the way to the final.
No mention of Ben there?
Kimberly Davis: [Laughs] Well, you know what? Despite his comments I actually have no issues with Ben [Ben called Kimberly “clinically obese” in the fitness task]. He and I spoke after his comment and he did grovel at my feet and ask for forgiveness. I really do truly and honestly believe he’s learned his lesson from it and he’s promised me he’s never going to say anything like that about anyone ever again, so we’ve moved on.
On your CV you mention you’re a firm believer in karma. Do you think Sir Alan has it coming now he’s fired you?
Kimberly Davis: Well, it’s not like he’s done anything particularly wrong. He did the best that he could under the circumstances. He’s a good businessman and I do honestly believe he will weed them out and good things will happen.
Thanks Kimberly! Hmmm… we’re not so sure about the karma thing, though. Any guesses about what Sir Alan might come back as in the next life? Answers on a postcard to the usual address.
